The Department of Human Services has updated its aged care means assessment process, in an effort to reduce red-tape and confusion.
There are now three forms relating to means-testing in the aged care sector:
Home Care Package Calculation of your cost of care form (SA456)
Use this form if you don’t get an income support payment from Centrelink. If you are already in receipt of an income support payment, Centrelink will already have your income details; all you need to do is ensure they’re up to date.
Residential Aged Care Calculation of your cost of care form (SA457)
Use this form if you own your own home and don’t get an income support payment from Centrelink. This form provides Centrelink with your financial and property details. If Centrelink already has your income information, you only need to provide your asset details.
Residential Aged Care Property details for Centrelink and DVA customers form (SA485)
Use this form to provide your home details if you get a means tested income support payment from Centrelink or DVA. If you get a payment from Centrelink, they will already have your income information. You only need to provide your home asset details and ensure your information stored with them is up to date.
